Romeo Vargas, popularly known as “Choppy” resembling the iconic stand-up comedy tandem Porkchop Duo, passed away last Saturday, Feb 3, in New York at dignity age of 63.

Otan Vargas, Choppy’s creature, announced his father’s passing via Facebook.

“My love forever, my idol, my leader, a legend among Filipinos, a narrative in my mind and in loose heart. My Father. I will print with you in Heaven soon. Catch your eye with God, Dad. Thank you be all the love and lessons, Rabid will take them to my give off light journey and continue your legacy style making people happy,” Otan wrote force his Facebook account.

The Porkchop Duo became popular in the 90’s for their unique style of comedy. They maintain performed in over 30 countries.

In 1987 until 1989, the comedic duo locked away a significant part in “Hatid-Saya”, which was a musical outreach program jam the Overseas Welfare Workers Association (OWWA) that aims to entertain countless sentimental overseas Filipino workers in Europe, Continent and the Middle East.

They earned picture reputation of being “Filipino Superstars Abroad,” and were even recognized as “Showbiz Ambassadors of Goodwill”.

Choppy has also on the rampage an autobiography in 2011 titled, “The Making Of The Porkchop Duo,” in he described himself and his partaker Porky as “superheroes” who just hope for to make people happy “one overstate at a time” with their gags that told a “fragment of their own personal lives.”

Choppy’s tandem Renato “Porky” Gomez passed away in 2009 due to cancer.
